Dumfries & Galloway, South-West Scotland

A four-bedroom farmhouse in the hills of Scotland

Somewhere to properly slow down

Tucked into the folds of the Dumfries & Galloway hills, Glaisters Farm is the kind of place that makes you slow down the moment you arrive. Rolling farmland stretches to every horizon, the night skies are some of the darkest in Europe, and the only sounds are birdsong and the wind in the grass.

Inside, the four-bedroom farmhouse is built for proper gatherings — log fires crackling in the lounge, a long kitchen table for shared meals, and a converted stable that doubles as a games room for evenings when the weather turns.

The Lounge

Log fires and long evenings

The lounge is the heart of Glaisters Farm. A wood-burning stove glows at its centre, with sofas for eight arranged around it. There’s a Smart TV, DVDs and board games for the evenings — and countryside framed in every window.

The kind of room you wander into for a quiet ten minutes and find yourself still sitting in two hours later.

Galloway Dark Sky Park

Some of the darkest skies in Europe

Glaisters Farm sits on the edge of Galloway International Dark Sky Park — one of only a handful in the world. On a clear night, the Milky Way spreads right across the sky. On lucky nights, the Aurora Borealis appears overhead, as the photograph shows — taken from our own garden.

No equipment needed. Just step outside and look up.

Where the evenings get competitive

The converted stable has a corner sofa for watching, a pool table and table football for playing. Expect to hear laughter from here well after dark — it’s that kind of room.

Glaisters Farm comes fully equipped — linen, towels, oil-fired central heating — so you can arrive and get straight to the important things.

★★★★★

“This is an outstanding property, as good as we have ever experienced over the last ten years. The house was extremely well equipped and clean and lacked for nothing. The games room was a real bonus and we much enjoyed playing pool and table football. We also had a lovely evening around a well lit fire pit.”

“Absolutely fantastic house and the garden is fantastic — our two dogs were able to run around all day and the garden was very secure. Views from the house are beyond words. Would highly recommend.”
